Effective 1/1/2024 – Department of Labor announces rule expanding submission requirements for injury, illness data provided by employers in high-hazard industries

As of January 1, 2015, all employers must report:
- All work-related fatalities with 8 hours.
- All work-related inpatient hospitalizations, all amputations and all losses of an eye within 24 hours.
You can report to OSHA by
- Calling OSHA’s free and confidential number at 1-800-321-OSHA (6742)
- Calling your closest Area Office during normal business hours.
- Using the new online form that will soon be available.

OSHA’s Recordkeeping Rule also require the need for maintaining occupational injury and illness records. Employers with 10 or fewer employees throughout the previous calendar year do not need to complete these forms. In addition to the small employer exemption, there is an exemption for establishments classified in certain industries. A complete list of exempt industries can be found on the OSHA web page at www.osha.gov. Establishments normally exempt from keeping the OSHA forms must complete the forms if they are informed in writing to do so by the Bureau of Labor Statistics or OSHA.
