The Governor’s Trade Excellence Awards Program was established in 2005 to recognize Alabama manufacturers and service companies for excelling in international trade.  The objectives of this program include identifying Alabama’s successful exporters, promoting exporters as role models to the Alabama business community and increasing awareness of the impact of exporting on Alabama’s economy. The awards program is coordinated by the Alabama Department of Commerce and the Export Alabama Alliance.  The program recognizes small, medium, and large businesses, including new-to-export companies located throughout the state.

Applied Chemical Technology, Inc. was founded in 1981 by A. Ray Shirley. They specialize in the design and construction of large and small scale productions plants for innovative chemical products and processes. Headquartered in Florence, Alabama, they now have over 50 employees including engineers, designers, technicians, draftsmen, craftsmen, salesmen and support staff. Applied Chemical Technology, Inc. has been a member of the Alabama Self Insured Worker’s Compensation Fund since 1992.

Knox Kershaw, Inc. was started in 1924 by Royce Kershaw, Sr. as the Royce Kershaw Company. The name was changed to Knox Kershaw Inc. in 1983 when it was bought by his son, Knox Kershaw. Today, Knox Kershaw Inc. is in the business of manufacturing and remanufacturing railway track maintenance machines and spare parts for both domestic and international customers all over the world. Operating in a state of the art facility located in Montgomery, Alabama they currently have over 115 employees. Knox Kershaw Inc. has been a member of the Alabama Self Insured Worker’s Compensation Fund since 2002.
