Shop Hazards
Unguarded Equipment
There are many types of machine guards designed to keep the employee away from the point of operation. This includes fixed, adjustable, self-adjusting and interlocking guards. But if the guards are missing or not set up properly, they do no good.
- Know your equipment well enough to know when a guard is missing or damaged
- Do not operate unguarded equipment
- Report missing guards to your supervisor as soon as possible
Common unguarded equipment includes bench grinders, belts & pulleys and table saws.
