Ladder Inspection
Prevent falls from ladders
Inspect the ladder for:
- Broken rungs or rails
- Loose nails, bolts or screws
- Wood splinters or damaged edges
- Cracked, broken, split, dented or worn rungs, cleats or side rails
- Corrosion of metal ladders or metal parts
- Excessive wear on pulleys, ropes and locks on extension ladders
- Worn non-skid surface of footings and pads on extension ladders
If a damaged ladder is identified:
- The ladder should be tagged as unsafe and taken out of service
- If the ladder cannot be repaired, make sure the ladder is dispose of properly
