Getting On and Off Equipment
An operator of a front end loader climbed down from the cab, lost his footing and fell to the ground. This fall resulted in sprained ankle.
It is important to remember these tips:
- Always use the 3 point contact method when getting on and off the equipment
- Face the equipment when climbing on and off the equipment
- Be aware of your steps and handholds for mud or other slippery conditions
- Wear footwear that provides support and traction
- Set the parking brake to prevent movement of the equipment
- Keep work areas clean and free of waste such as:
- Scraps
- Extra materials
- Garbage
