 Step 2 – Keep Floors Clean and Dry

 

Good housekeeping is very important for a lot of different reasons. We should also take pride in our workplace.

Any substance on the floor, such as water, reduces the friction between your shoe and the floor surface, increasing the chance of a slip, trip or fall incident.

Keeping the walking surface as clean and as dry as possible is critical to preventing slip, trip and fall injuries.

 It sounds simple but there are times we are not observant of our surroundings.  We may carry objects that block our vision, looking at our cell phone or are simply not pay attention to our surroundings.

Paying attention and watching where you walk is the first step in preventing slips, trips and falls.

Prevent Falls From Ladders

Properly Ascend and Descend a Ladder

 

Prevent falls from ladders:

  • Face the ladder when ascending and descending
  • Keep both hands free to grasp the ladder securely
  • Use a tool belt or a pull rope for tools
